New Jack swing group, Bell Biv DeVoe, was a splinter group off of New Edition. It consisted of former members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, & Ronnie DeVoe. Their debut album, Poison, went triple-platinum, featuring the hits "Do Me" and "Poison."

The song, "Poison," was the group's debut song, and also it most successful. It spoke on falling in love & the dangers of it. It samples Kool G. Rap's "Poison." It's definitely one of my favorite old school songs & it always get me hype when I hear it. Check the vid.

It's been a long year........

So..my freshman year in college is winding down and coming to an end. It's been a year of many ups & downs, and I learned so much through it all. I started off the year just happy to be in college. Happy to be away from home. Happy to be able to do what I want. Happy to be able to live MY life and no longer have the need to care about what anyone had to say to me. I changed when I came to college. I say for the better, but of course, there are some people I know from back home that might say differently.

I realized that I can't go around trying to please everyone else because in the end those people may not even be here with me. I learned that now that I'm in college, my life is about ME, my God, my education, my family, and the people outside my family that I consider family. Anyone around me who wasn't trying to lift me up or be positive and provide me with support didn't need to be around me. You can call it selfish if you want, but that's the honest truth. Why would anyone want a negative person around them all the time trying to bring them down? I told myself I wouldn't allow it. The people that weren't "with" me didn't need to be around me. You could get a "Wuz gud?" & a little conversation, but anything else wasn't too necessary. That's just the way I felt. People told me I changed but all I could say was, "When you leave home & go away for college you'll see why I am the way I am." Life changes and you begin to see things in a different light when you move away from college in my opinion. However, alot of things about college just reminded me of the childish shit I seen all through high school.

College was a place where all of us, I'm sure, matured somehow. But, in a sense, it also proved to be somewhat of an extended high school. People were still talkin about other people. People were still being petty & holding stupid grudges. People were still actin a fool. People were still showing out. And SOMEHOW, everyone in the school knew everyone else's business. This is extremely annoying to me because I don't like anyone in mine unless I tell you myself. But, shit happens. That's life. I felt as though even though people said they were grown and mature/maturing, they were contradicting themselves with little things and situations like these. We all need to grow and stop worrying about others. We live our lives for ourselves and not for any other person. We all need to realize that; rather sooner than later.

Not many people know it, but I went through a lot this year. A lot for myself I'd say because I'm usually not one to stress things at all. This year brought me stress with many things. I worried about my financial situation. I drifted from my Catholic religion, which wasn't a problem for me because it didn't intrigue me anymore. I was just Christian, but even then I drifted from religion altogether. I went through it with my family and even some friends. I even went through it with girls. It was just hard for me all at once.

But, I didn't break down. All I can do is pick myself up from this point and that is what I'm gonna do. Freshman year taught me the mistakes that I can't and won't make in the future and I'm going to do what it takes to make my life better. I'm gonna get my money situation right. I'm gonna handle my business when it comes to school. I'm gonna get back with God. And I'm gonna grow into the person I want myself to be. This year came with many, many lessons. Lessons are made to LEARN FROM. And life is just a long ass class lol. We must learn from life to be able to grow. We must grow from our experiences to be able to love ourselves and others. We must love ourselves and others to be able to live a happy life. I feel that happiness is the main thing we all strive to obtain in our lives. We need to learn from what we've been through to make our lives better and make ourselves happy. Period.

He's made the hits "Getcha Some" & "Rollin." On the real, dude is nice. He recently put out a mixtape called "U Know Big Sean-Finally Famous Vol. 2," produced by Mick Boogie. It was released in anticipation of his debut album, Finally Famous, set to be released later this spring. Look out for this guy.

Hailing from New Jersey, Wyclef Jean, Pras Michel, & Lauryn Hill joined to form the hip-hop group, The Fugees. They recorded two albums: Blunted on Reality & The Score. The latter was a multi-platinum & Grammy Award-winning classic that spawned many of the group's hits, such as "Ready or Not", "Fu-Gee-La", & "Killing Me Softly". The Fugees broke up in 1997 to pursue solo careers, each meeting success. They had a short-lived reunion from 2004-2005.

The song, "Ready or Not," is the second single from their second album The Score. It contains a sample from "Boadicea" by Enya. It is one of my favorite Fugee songs & videos and I love that classic Fugee sound. Check the vid. Shouts to my Twin again for the suggestion.

Drake's freestyle on Hot97 was my 100th post, a huge accomplishment in my opinion. I've made 100 posts over 3 months of doing this blogging thing. I take it very seriously and I really love it, and it's become something I love and learn from. I've developed a passion for it. DEEPER THAN RAP

Rick Ross is back with his highly-anticipated third album, Deeper Than Rap. Out today, the album is being released in the midst of Ross' heavily publicized "beef" with 50 Cent, which people have mixed opinions on who is better. The song "Mafia Music" takes shot at 50 Cent. There are other good songs and the album features guest appearances from numerous prominent artists, such as Kanye West, Lil Wayne, T-Pain, The-Dream, & Ne-Yo, among others. It also features production from J.U.S.T.i.C.E League & The Runners, among others. This album is another good one by Rick Ross. If you liked his last album, you'll like this one.

I posted a blog about this man before, but his album has finally dropped so here it is. Released TODAY, Asleep in the Bread Aisle is the debut album by Asher Roth. Featuring the hit single, "I Love College," the album definitely brings something different, but that can be expected from the wild mind of Asher Roth. Some people call it neo-rap, or hipster music, or many other names, but I'll say hip-pop lol. I'm a fan of Asher Roth & I like the songs I have heard off of the album. It's good & enjoyable music. If you can digg something a little different then you'll like this album.

Jordan Brand has previously released two sneakers of the ".5" edition, mixing elements of two consecutive Jordans into one shoe. Those sneakers were the 12.5s [Xii's & Xiii's] & the 2.5s [ii's & iii's]. The next pair to come out will be the 16.5s, which blend the XVi's & XVii's together. In total, it looks more like the XVi's with the black patent leather toe, tongue, and heel, the mesh on the sides. However, there are recognizable traits of the XVii's, such as, the eyelets and the toe section of the midsole. These are some hot kicks & are expected to drop in November. Jordan did something right with these ones. FRESH!

ALiFE EVERYBODY MiD PARACHUTE NYLON GRiD PACK => RED/WHiTE

Alife brings, to the people, the Everybody Mid: Parachute Nylon Grid Pack. My favorite Supras are the Skytops, but the Vaiders come a close second. These Vaiders are smooth: high top w/ blue as the primary color and black and white accompanying. They just look good..period. The blue and white accents are perforated suede, giving it a look of mesh while still allowing the feet to breath. Supra keeps beating us across the head with these hot shoes & they need to keep it coming. Fresh!

This colorway of the Nike Air Yeezy has no release date as of yet, but it is sure to be a hit once it drops. The Nike Air Yeezy was released just last Saturday as, probably, the most-anticipated sneaker to drop since the Air Jordan. This shoe features a black upper with grey accents on the toe and eyelets and a black patent leather strap. These sit on top of a fire-red midsole, topped off by Yeezy's glow-in-the-dark outsole. FRESH!
