2009 NBA Draft

This was an interesting draft. There were many moves I didn't think I'd see but most of the names are pretty well known. The top5 went as follows: Oklahoma Forward Blake Griffin to the L.A. Clippers, UConn Center Hasheem Thabeet to the Memphis Grizzlies, Arizona State Guard James Harden to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Memphis Guard Tyreke Evans to the Sacramento Kings, & Spanish Guard Ricky Rubio to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The lottery was loaded with stars such as Davidson's Stephen Curry [GSW], Brandon Jennings [MIL], Louisville's Terrence Williams [NJN], Duke's Gerald Henderson [CHA], & UNC's Tyler Hansbrough [IND]. Other notable 1st-rounders were UNC's Ty Lawson [DEN], UCLA's Darren Collison [NOH], UNC's Wayne Ellington [MIN], & FSU's Toney Douglas [NYK].

Our hometown UCF star Guard, Jermaine Taylor, was selected 32nd overall by the Washington Wizards but later traded to the Houston Rockets for cash considerations, which means he'll be backing up T-Mac & Ron Artest next year. Congrats to the dude Jermaine Taylor. Do ya thing.

I'm expecting big things from this draft class. Not the best draft class we've seen but it's loaded with quality players [in the 1st round @least].

*Trade News*
1. Vince Carter & Ryan Anderson traded to Orlando Magic for Rafer Alston, Courtney Lee, & Tony Battie. Big move for Magic..definitely makes them stronger. That starting lineup is gonna be killer with the addition of Carter, but they lost great reserves in Alston & Lee.
2. Shaquille O'Neal traded to Cleveland Cavaliers for Sasha Pavlovic & Ben Wallace. Big trade for Cleveland, literally; in NBA history..Shaq + superstar = NBA Championship. Will that be the case this season as he joins LeBron?

We'll see how the season pans out.
